The national minister of general education and instruction pleaded with the community in Abyei Administrative Area to give chance to children with disabilities to go to school.
Hon. Awut Deng Achuil was speaking during the inauguration of a new science lab in Abyei Town on Tuesday 7th March 2023. She said these children are part of the community and must not be deprived of going to school with their agemates. The senior national education official encouraged parents to allow the education of both boys and girls for a better future.
The area’s Union of People with Disabilities estimated 50 children with disabilities of whom 20 are enrolled in schools which makes up 40%.
The national minister and her accompanying delegation went back to Juba on Wednesday 08 March 2023, after a two-day visit to Abyei Administrative Area.
