The national minister of general education and instruction Hon. Awut Deng Acuil inaugurated the first-ever science lab in the Abyei Administrative area on Tuesday 7th March 2023.
The occasion was attended by the Chief Administrator, Hon. Dr. Chol Deng Alak, and acting government officials, chiefs, and students.
Caretaker head of education, information, culture, youth, and sports says the science lab will improve learning of science subjects by students during the education process. Hon. Ajak Deng Miyen thanked the national government and donors for construction of the lab.
Mr. Mwayu Nichdas is a chemistry teacher at Abyei coeducation secondary school in Abyei Town. He said now his students will understand the subject theoretically and practically unlike in the past when he had struggled to explain things to them.
Science students in the Town have expressed their joy for the new lab. Sadia Hitler Juma who carried out the first experiment said she dreams to become a lab doctor.
The science lab was donated by an organization known as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Hon. Acuil is in Abyei on a three-day educational visit where she will officiate many projects.
