A group of women in the Abyei Administrative Area on Wednesday 11th January 2023 took to the street to protest the relieve of former Chief administrator Gen. Kuol Deim Kuol by President Kiir.

They said the change this time is inappropriate due to security challenges north and south of the area. Some said they went out to condemn the killing and displacement of women and children.

Nyandup Deng Dau said she sympathized with the families of the victims of Rumamer attack.

Abyei Women Association has distanced itself from the demonstration saying the change of the constitutional post-holders is inevitable. The chairperson in a press release Wednesday evening apologized for what women did.

Shima Deng Ajang thanked former Chief Administrator Gen. Kuol for services he rendered to the people of Abyei during his tenure and welcomed the new Chief Administrator Dr. Chol Deng Alak.
