Abyei Municipality’s public and environmental health department in collaboration with the chamber of commerce, and UN police launched a cleaning activity in Nyinkuac market on Tuesday 10th January 2023.
Deng Miyen from the health department said they aimed at cleaning the environment to prevent diseases caused by flies that breed at garbage sites.
The Chamber of Commerce secretary assured the people that cleaning will be done every two weeks.
Chol Kuol Miyen urged traders to put empty sacks in front of their shops to ease collection of garbage and its transportation to the dumping sites.
On their part, UN police encouraged everyone to participate in the cleaning of the market and urged people not to use plastic bags for it harms the environment.
