ACEA organizes customary law review workshop

African Christian Ecumenical Alliance, ACEA organized a workshop for traditional leaders on Friday 19th August 2022, at social welfare office in Abyei Town.

The training witnessed participation of chiefs of Ngok nine chiefdoms, paramount chief, social welfare, legal advisor, two lawyers, and UNISFA sexual and gender-based violence advisor.

ACEA’s GBV coordinator, Regina Ajak said they wanted to review customary laws that contradict women and child rights and formation of chiefs’ council. Upon launching the workshop, acting director general in the administration of local government and law enforcement agencies said that laws guide people, reduce problems and create stability.

Bokor Miyar Deng encouraged chief to speak their minds. He called on lawyers to help chiefs enact customary laws that respect women and child rights.
