Abyei municipality has approved new price of bread in Abyei administrative area last week. The municipality approved 80 South Sudanese Pounds  for one loaf of bread that weighs about 70 g.

Dut Piok Amuor is the executive director of Abyei Municipality. He asked consumers to help them observe the price and weight of loaves of bread at bakeries and report to them. Amuor threatens to punitive measures against violators.

It’s worth mentioning that a 50kg bag of wheat flour is sold at 42,000 South Sudanese Pounds instead of 32,000 South Sudanese Pounds.

Last month bakery owners increased price of break to 60 South Sudanese Pounds from 50 South Sudanese Pounds, something that outraged the municipality.
