Abyei Chief Administrator urges displaced people to return to their villages

The Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area has called on displaced villagers due to insecurity to return to their villages.

The call was made during an event organized by the area administration to commemorate Martyrs’ Day on Saturday at freedom square known as “Chuen Ayak”.

Lt-Gen. Kuol Deim Kuol said that people shouldn’t leave their villages. Kuol said people must return to Noong, Koor Rioch, Wunchuei, and Malual Aleu for the sake of development. Addressing the gathering, Hon. Kuol said his administration stands and works for peace and stability.

On her part, Alic Chol Minyiel the area’s member of council of States saluted martyrs and suggested establishment of “Martyrs’ Cemeteries” to show the history of those struggled for the area.

Women association representative, Achok Deng Kiir called for a free school for orphans and micro services to widows.

Every year on 30th July, South Sudan celebrates Martyrs’ Day. It is the day on which SPLM/A Chairman, Dr. John Garang de Mabior died in a helicopter crash in 2005.
