IOM organizes GBV mitigation workshop

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) conducted a training for forty women on means to mitigate GBV in the community in Abyei administrative area. The workshop began on Tuesday and ended on Wednesday.  It aimed at reducing gender-based violence, reporting and dealing with force marriage in Abyei.

Nyanlemon Kuol a participant said she learn about women rights and reporting GBV cases. Nyanawai Mijak a member of GBV desk said the workshop sensitized the community about gender-based issues. She said GBV could be caused by economical problem.

Last month, UN police inaugurated gender-based desk at community police station in Abyei Town.
