Abyei municipality mayor calls for cooperation to curb motorbike accidents

Abyei municipal mayor is pleading with families to cooperate with traffic police to curb motor bike road accidents.

Speaking to Abyei FM on Tuesday, Apach Deng Biong said it was possible to reduce accidents through road safety awareness..

Abyei municipality and traffic police have noticed that minors who rids motorcycles overspeed.  

Mayor Biong stressed that people under 18 years are not allowed by traffic laws of the Republic of South Sudan to ride a motorbike. He threatened to confiscate motorbikes if violations continue.

Last month, traffic police in Abyei Town said that two riders died, and two others were wounded when their motorcycle hit a wall fence of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei.
