Seven people killed, ten injured in Abyei Administrative Area

Seven people including three children and two women have been confirmed dead and ten others wounded in an attack in Abyei administrative area on Saturday.

The incident occurred in Mading Achueng and Agany Achueng villages in Abyei Administrative Area’s Alal county.

Several huts were reportedly set ablaze while some families have been displaced from the two villages.

According to authorities the assault was carried by armed youth from Twic county of Warrap State. 

Abyei FM is yet to verify this news from authorities in Twic county and Warrap State.

Authorities in Alal county said that local youth had repulsed the attack.

The county executive director is urging villagers not to get afraid and rather focus on cultivating their farms during this season and return to their normal activities.

On their part Abyei Community Organization in Juba and Abyei Interim Leadership Council condemned the incident and called on the government and the High-Level Committee to prevail over the leadership of the Twic community to opt for a peaceful means to resolve this conflict and stop the senseless loss of lives.
