IOM creates health awareness for IDPs and host community

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is carrying out health awareness to internally displaced persons and host community in Abyei Town, Abyei Administrative Area. The process began last week in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and residential areas.

In a statement to Abyei FM, IOM’s water engineering assistant said they aim at creating emergency health awareness response in camps and residential areas to let people know the importance of personal hygiene, clean water and clean environment.

Taban James said the organization was doing awareness to prevent diseases caused by poor hygiene, to make sure water containers are kept clean, sensitize people about negative effects of open defecation and how to keep the environment clean.

Home to home awareness campaign started last month and will be concluded next month.
