More than 30 participants receive training on GBV in Abyei Administrative Area

The African Christian Ecumenical conducted a workshop for 32 women and elderly people in Abyei Town in Abyei Administrative Area. The participants were given knowledge of gender-based violence and ways to fight it.

Speaking to Abyei FM on Tuesday, Regina Ajak Akol is the coordinator of gender-based violence for the organization. She says the workshop aimed to raise awareness about the danger of gender-based violence in the community and how the organization can respond to its different types.

Regina added that they are providing mental health support to survivors of GBV including rape. She appealed to the community to cooperate with them to fight gender-based violence.

For her part, the representative of UN police says they will provide support messaging about gender-based violence.

The caretaker head of health and social welfare requested the organization to cooperate with the department of social welfare to end gender-based violence.

The workshop was done in a day.
