The governor of Warrap State visited the Abyei Administrative Area on Thursday.
Governor Aleu Ayieny Aleu was invited by the South Sudan vice president for service cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol.
H.E Akol is also the chairperson for the committee investigating the communal fighting between armed youth from Twic county of Warrap State and local youth of Abyei area that claimed more than twenty lives in February in Agok.
Speaking to Abyei FM on Thursday, Governor Aleu said the purpose of the visit was that he was among those accused by the commission of fueling conflict between Twic and Ngok Dinka communities.
This was a first visit for Hon. Aleu to be in Abyei Town. Lt. Gen. Aleu specifically said that he was on an official visit to Abyei to submit some observation points raised by Twic community in a paper prepared by committee to be handed to the investigation committee as cessation hostilities is due to be signed.
Hon. Aleu appealed to the sisterly communities to stop fighting and work for peace. He said Twic and Ngok Dinka were brothers and called on the communities to immediately stop fighting and give peace a chance.
