Displaced persons from Agok suffer poor living conditions

People who fled homes in Agok and are facing shortage of basic of needs in Abyei Town and surrounding villages.

Unidentified huge number of families left homes due to armed attacks that claimed 20 lives.

Speaking to Abyei FM on Thursday, the acting Director of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Deng Wuor said the displaced persons suffer shortage of food, shortage of lean water, inadequate shelter, and lack of medicines.

On Wednesday, Abyei administration and humanitarian agencies began assessment of the displaced persons in the area.

The exercise started in Abyei town and will come to Agok where the fighting took place.

Deng said the government and organizations will meet to rescue the situation as soon as possible.
