Seven journalists and an IT support officer from AIRS/Abyei FM underwent photojournalism training in Agok in Abyei Administrative Area on Friday.

The one-day training was conducted by the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) and it was facilitated by UNMAS photography trainer, Mr. Bojan Vukovic. He said that photos are very important for they can tell thousands of words.

The training focuses on photographing techniques, enhancing of photos and digital camera care.

The workshop is part of UNISFA’s Public Information Office capacity building to media in Abyei Administrative Area to enable them report accurate stories and spread peace messages in the region.

UNISFA conducted a similar training to journalists last month and was called by Abyei Journalists Association (AJA).

AIRS program manager and Abyei FM editor said that new skills acquired would help journalists get good shots of photos for website and donor reporting purposes which has been a challenge.
