Samaritan’s Purse International is fencing the orphans centre in Agok of Abyei Administrative Area. The work started last week and is expected to be completed in the first or second week of December this year.
The coordinator of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for the organization, James Mawien says their task is to put a fence and dig a well in the centre. He added the area being fenced is 100 meters in 1200 square meter.
The facility is designed to host 300 children.
Pastor Zachariah Dau of the Episcopal church said the total number of orphans registered in Abyei is about 270.
He added that more than 40 of these orphans are living in the Episcopal church in Agok.
Pastor Dau said what Samaritan’s Purse is doing is the first phase of building the center while the church will begin the second phase soon.
However, the religious man did not mention the time building will be open for orphans to use.
