Alal county authorities warn locals against cutting grass or fruit trees

The acting caretaker commissioner of Alal county in Abyei Administrative Area has warned people against cutting unripened grasses or fruit-bearing trees.

Mr. Luar Mayol Deng says there are some people cutting down trees like Tamarind, and “Lalop.”

These trees and many others that bear edible fruits are protected by the local ban. Cutting down these plants is punishable by imprisonment or fine.

Mr. Deng  added that anyone who violates the order will face the law. He said those who want to cut these trees must seek permission from county authorities.
