The station manager of Mayardit 90.7 FM has announced that the radio has been off air since last week after some communication equipment were struck by lightning. Mayardit FM based in Twic county, Warrap state is run by The Radio Community, an independent media organization in South Sudan.
Mr. Aguer Atem spoke to Abyei FM on Monday. He said lightning strike has affected the transmitter, generator, and internet services. He added that they managed to restore internet services but technicians were still working to bring the radio back on air.
According to Mr. Atem, broadcasting is expected to resume within this week.
