Food security assessment ends on Saturday in Abyei

A joint assessment on food security and malnutrition among pregnant women and children will be concluded in Abyei Administrative Area on Saturday.

The survey teams have already found out that food production will be lower this year compared to last year.

Rou Manyiel Rou is the director of Agriculture, animal resources, forestry and fisheries in Abyei Administrative Area. He says low rainfall and weeds have contributed to poor sorghum yields.

The 10-day assessment is carried out by World Food Program (WFP) Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN-FAO) in collaboration with the department of agriculture, animal resource, forestry and fisheries in Abyei Area.
