Abyei Administrative Area receives additional doses of Covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccine

Health authorities received about four hundred doses of AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 on Thursday.

 The Acting Director General in the Department of Health in Abyei, Mr. Kon Thon announced that they got 40 vials – each vial contains eight doses. Thon revealed that they are expecting 60 more vials probably on Monday next week.

The more than seventy vials the area got two weeks ago were used up, leaving behind a need. The vaccines came from COVAX facility co-led by the World Health Organization but were delivered to Abyei Area by South Sudan’s health ministry with support from its partners.

Abyei Administrative Area has registered more than 160 cases of Covid-19 with 11 deaths according to health official.

The Covid-19 vaccination is taking place at Juoljok Primary Health Centre in Agok and Abyei hospital in Abyei Town.
