Thirty-two church leaders from five different denominations got trained on financial management by Samaritan’s Purse in Abyei Administrative Area.
The participants also were taught on how to manage tithes or offertory during the four-day workshop.
Achol Yak is the religious program assistant at Samaritan’s Purse. She says the aim of the training is to build the capacity of the church leaders to enable them to properly plan the use of the little resources they get, payment of tithes in the church and avoid entering into debts. She added that this is also part of combating poverty in churches.
One of the participants, Nyandeng Dut says the training was fruitful and hopes that it would help them manage their resources well. She appealed to the organization to support investment projects in the area.
